Araldynna* walked down the path, though she knew it wasn't a regular path, but an animal one she preferred it to the main ones. Stopping she put her hands on her lower back and stretched.. having had been on the move all night. She glanced around and smiled a bit; yep it seems she has eluded them. Deciding it would be ok to stop she found a fallen tree and sat down pulling a small pack around to the front. Digging in it she brings out a wrapped package and slowly begins to unwrap it. Eventually a hard piece of cheese and bread emerge and she sighs a bit as she gnaws off a bite. Chewing methodically she once more looks around, perking her ears up for the sounds... not totally at ease... those ignorant fools had thought she was a witch and were hellbent on destroying her.
green_dragon_in_human_form: The air seemed drier than it had for days. Were the rains finally letting up? Perhaps. The mist hadn’t even come in that morning so maybe the storm had finally moved on. Green wasn’t all too sure whether he should go out anyway. With his luck, the sun would rise to entice him even further, and by the time he made good distance out into the open, it’d suddenly start pouring again. Abruptly, he shook his head irritably. Damn you. What does it matter if it rains? You won’t die from it. You never have before.. You’re letting age get to you. -c-
green_dragon_in_human_form: But he had to didn’t he. No matter how stubborn he remained, age would finally bring him down. There were sighs already he was frightfully aware of. Periods of time where his mind was blank and knowledge was lost. Other times when he forgot who he was. Moments of hesitance to take action in things that were simply trivial; cooking and hunting. How to wield the sword. How to use the bow. Even more frightening… he forgot how to change. How to embrace the dragon inside him, and spread his wings to fly. Sometimes he forgot how to change back. Forgot the human inside him as well.- Once, he had spent his nights underneath a starry sky contemplating the wonders he had witnessed in his life. Now, he contemplated how long before everything he knew left him permanently. It was a depressing thing. Living day to day, knowing that you knew less and less of your life. The names of dear friends you’d made and lost. The wars you had taken part of. The lovers you had shared pleasures with. …Lucky for his pride- he forgot how to shed tears. –c-
green_dragon_in_human_form: Green perched upon a branch high up in the canopy of the forest. The unbeaten path that was still yet a path stretched north and south below him. A trail of his own, although he left no clue to the naked eye it was man-made. It was more or less a deer trail; one that he did not often use except for hunting. Here, he tried to enjoy the morning, and the moment’s respite from the cloud-blanketed sky overhead which still seemed to threaten to unleash a torrent of rain. He wasn’t worried. The leather coat he wore covered him from head to foot, and would keep him well protected until he returned. The hood was pulled far down to hide his face. His feet were tucked around the branch, and his back was comfortably rested against the bowl. He could’ve slept, if he wanted to. It was peaceful enough.. –c-
green_dragon_in_human_form: The arrival of a stranger shattered that thought. There were no falling feet to listen to, for the stranger stepped silently and quick. However, Green’s eyes had decided to rest on the fallen tree the stranger decided to sit against. Green never moved; never blinked. It appeared to be a woman, and at least humanoid. But he had long since learned the meaning in ‘never judge a book by its cover’, and kept quiet. Immobile. He was safe and undetected high up here, and unless the woman was looking right at him, he would remain hidden. His light brown leather would blend well with the colors of the wood and leaves around him. Better to stay silent now, and watch the stranger, than to come right out and confront. That’s how he had stayed alive for so long. That’s how he’d survived against countless enemies and wars.. If only he could do the same with time.
Araldynna* sat chewing and glancing around.. it seemed as if she was being watched. She rewrapped up the remaining hard food and put it away, all the while using her senses to find out the source of the feeling, looking around the lower area first. Stretching once more, her eyes looked up into the trees. She found herself glancing up at a particular tree...her senses telling her something was there.. then she saw it.. a bundle of a person? She let her gaze drop easily as to not stare, but she did know where the source was and it didn't seem to be moving. Standing up she gathered up her bow and quiver, that she had put down earlier and put them on her shoulders. Turning towards the path once more she took a few steps... but stopped... turning back she looked back up at the one in the tree. <c>
Araldynna: "I hope all is right with you, though it is a bit disconcerting to be watched by one so well hidden and quiet." She blinked and turned back, thinking it is a good thing sometimes to let a hidden one know you know they are there. She didn't think this one was associated with the lynching mob of the town. Stepping quietly she began walking down the path once more.. wondering where it will take her.
green_dragon_in_human_form: Blinked, when he realized he’d been seen. How? No matter. Perhaps with age, the skills he once had honed and mastered were being lost as well. …Another scary thought, tucked away into the back of his mind to mull over later.- “Hold.” His voice did not hold any maliciousness or cold, but it was deep, commanding, and the armies he once commanded had found it difficult to ignore. Green slid out of his perch and fell, or so it seemed. His hands and feet, hidden by the cloak he wore, barely touched the branches he passed. The illusion usually gave the effect that he floated, rather than fell. His black boots firmly thudded against the ground, and Green bent his knees to kneel there for a moment. He looked up, staring at the woman, his face hidden in shadow by the hood, and then stood. –c-
green_dragon_in_human_form: Seven feet of muscled flesh rippled forward. His approach was languid and relaxed, and hopefully gave the woman an impression saying he meant no harm. And perhaps the smile he would give her, once his hand raised and pulled the hood back, would disarm any other misgivings and doubts she felt as well. Tendrils of green surrounded a scarred face, falling just far enough to curl around a firm chin. Green eyes that blazed with a gold pupil, gazed at her as though measuring and weighing. When no more than ten feet remained between them he would stop, crossing his arms over his wide chest. It was then, that he spoke again. “You trespass lands that do not belong to you. I believe I have a right to know for what reason or reasons don’t you? It is only polite.” Silence followed. The measuring and weighing spread to a contemplative expression as he continued to gaze at her, awaiting her answer.
Araldynna* turned around quickly hearing motion, her body ready in case the one in the tree was going to attack.. yet it seemed to fall, or float straight down. Her green eyes narrowed as he landed. Then he stood up and took off his hood. Her small stature seemed even more dwarfed by his size. The green hair and gold eyes took her aback some.. some childhood stories seeming to come to mind. Clearing her thoat she stood up as straight as possible as he spoke, thinking of what answer would ease this strange one's mind. Her eyes look up into his as she spoke. "I was just traveling though. I did not see any signs that this land was nothing more than free forest. I am sorry if I have trespassed where others are not welcomed. But this was the best path to get .. " she paused a moment <c>
Araldynna: " to get elsewhere." She smiled as she tried to defuse the situation her legs and feet ready to run if needed, though. The gathering of magic to her was beginning to happen, one never knew when it would be needed.
green_dragon_in_human_form: The hair on the back of his neck began to rise. His sense for energies being gathered and increasing at least were still good. His eyes narrowed at her, and he sniffed derisively. “There is no need for that. I will not harm you, stranger, nor will anything else harm you while you are here. But continue along the path that you have but only taken a step down, and you will leave me no choice but to respond in kind.” If she could sense as well as he, she would feel his own energies begin to swirl in the air around him. Energy not just from the air, the ground, and the earth; energy from inside him. It coursed from his core and traveled in his veins. It made his fingers curl, for a moment, and the golden pupils inside his eyes disappeared. There was only green. A depthless green that anyone looking at them could get lost in. It blazed with the heat of a blacksmith’s furnace. Many of the casters he had faced over the hundreds of years in his life had found his preparation overwhelming. To draw so much upon oneself.. It was a dangerous thing. Too much, and he could destroy himself. But Green had lived long, had many teachers, to master the art. His life had always been balanced upon a razor’s edge. –c-
green_dragon_in_human_form: “Relinquish your hold, and I will relinquish mine. Even if you do deal away with me, the Forest is vengeful, and you will not make it away from here with your life. I have been the Guardian too long for it not to notice my death. Come.. Stand down, and I will guide you to this ‘elsewhere’ place you wish to go. Or to shelter, for you to hide from whatever it is that you run from.” The smile was still there on his face, but the energy continued to swirl around him, prepared to lash out without a thought. He waited once again in silence.
Araldynna: She felt the great power emanating from him and her eyes widened as she found herself becoming lost in his own eyes. Shaking her head slightly she took a deep breath and pushed the magics she had been gathering away, though she felt naked.. vunerable as she did, she knew she was no match to this one. Perhaps the stories the old ones were not mere stories afterall. Her throat dry now she licked her lips as she spoke, though her voice was low and raspy a bit.."It is done." Is all she said. She wondered what lair she would be led to, and if she had jumped out of the frying pan into the fire. She took a deep breath and forced herself to relax some. She has been in worse situations she told herself, yet she didn't really think so. She has never had herself disapate her powers like this <c>
Araldynna: one has made her do, and she didn't like that feeling. Her hand curled around the bow though it remained upon her shoulder, she didn't think she would have had a chance to use it even if needed. "Then lead on." She finally spoke again, hoping this one could be trusted, but she wasn't sure. A hand moved to her hair and she pushed it back behind her pointed ear, her senses pushed to the maximum as she waited for his next move.
green_dragon_in_human_form: His expression never changed when the energies vanished. He was himself again, with the golden pupils flickering back. His expression softened, and the smile he gave he seemed truly genuine. Without a word, he whirled around and began striding in the direction she’d first chosen to enter this place. Deeper into the forest, it seemed to lead.- He didn’t look over his shoulder to see if she followed. He didn’t need to. He stayed aware of her, and kept his attention on whether she had truly let go of energy. His boots pressed against the earth in silence. The clouds overhead darkened, and far off rumblings seemed to grow louder; seemed to come closer. Was it a foreshadowing of events to come? He hoped not. The storm seemed to not have left after-all, and it would be worse this day before it left.
