Jonathan had long since departed from the tavern. And his course had taken him far from the lands of Ayenne, and far from the simplicity that the realm of utter anarchy often provided. No his quarry was not within this world. His prey lay elsewhere, and his mind had stretched out wards searching, hunting, desperately seeking until finally the answers he had desired to find were presented to him. And so just as silently, he was up and moving. The traversal of realms for Jonathan was not as neat, and marvelous as it was for some beings. No, his mind literally tore away at the fabric of reality, piercing and shredding and tunneling through realm after realm until the location he sought was found. And then with a mighty heave his frame ripped through the barriers, in a psycho kinetic wave that would bring him to set foot upon the solid concrete, in front of a street in front of an apartment complex. Jonathan stood, plain as day, in black robes that swayed in retaliation to the wind's subtle caress. His head lifted, his hooded features robed just the same in a veil of darkness as he paced forward across the street. Those around him saw nothing, the veered from his course, their minds could not fathom, or rationalize his presence and so he was ignored deep within their psyche's and consciousness. Soon enough he stood before the building and merely raised his head. All he had to do was wait.
Jinryu stood upon the balcony. His mind wandering over what was going on. Over the choices he had made within the few days. His youthful charge, Eve would no longer have much use for him. And it was just as well. Though she was far from human, she had made her decision in a subtle way. She was most definitely a 'good' woman, and had little need for his presence. Respectfully he was drawing away from her, he would not sway her to His Master's side, and evil still, though he had made His Master aware of Eve, he did not favor, or divulge the idea of using her as a tool. It would be against Eve's person, and regardless of what anyone else thought, to him Eve was still a person. It did seem that his sentimentality did have something to it after all. Nevertheless his thoughts were disrupted by a presence. He turned his head, his smooth, black hair was brushed back with a single swaying of his right hand as he ventured into the house. Immediately he drew up his blades, and paced to wards the door. Flames licked across his frame, burning away the attire of mortal fashion, replacing instead his garb with robes, bearing upon them archaic emblems and runic scripts that trailed along the edges of the midnight cloak and veil. His blade was slipped into his belt and he paced down the steps, to let his eyes fall upon Jonathan.
"The Stranger shows himself. What can I do for you Jonathan?" he inquired. "I trust that this isn't a social visit?"
Jonathan's smooth, blue eyes focused intently upon Jinryu's. He stepped to the side and waved his hand to the portal that lay across the street.
"You have been challenged dog, of destruction," said Jonathan with equally, cold tones. Jinryu raised a brow and saw the portal. A challenge from The Stranger himself. Jinryu knew that this man was dangerous. He knew that this man's mind was more powerful than even his master's, and that his blade was just as terrible. However if something spurred Jonathan LitRegei into combat, then there had to be a reason. His strong, interminable sense of duty forbade him from turning it down. Something was going on and if he could defeat Le' Etranger then he could find out what it was, he could find out what exactly the game was.
"Very well," offered Jinryu in response as he paced forward and crossed the busy avenue without pause. Jinryu stepped into the portal and Le' Etranger followed behind. The portal sealed itself with a echoing clap and the two stood upon the soil of a new world. A world that Jinryu was not privy to. Jinryu took a step back and lowered his stance, his right hand crossed his frame to take hold of the handle of his blade. Jonathan turned and regarded his foe and drew his rapier. There was nothing more than silence. Jonathan's easy going demeanor had faded swiftly and the man known as Jinryu was not much for words. The grass swayed in the brisk winds and Jinryu was the first to initiate the combat.
It was dangerously alarming and even Jonathan was impressed. The blade was drawn with such speed and such precision that it was nearly impossible to see or deflect. The blade echoed through the air, distance was crossed, Jinryu was already in front of him. The blade extended out with such ferocity that blades of grass cleaved up wards from the soil in an arc of flickering green as the winds bellowed around from an implosion of speed. Jonathan's only course was to step back. His blade ascended, the sound of steel grinding against steel echoed for but a moment before the sound repeated itself again, and again, and again. Jonathan's blade moved with a fluid, swaying grace. Rising and falling to sway against the weighed, edge of Jinryu's katana. Before the song of steel on steel faded, it would start anew as another blow was delivered. Jinryu lashed out with a tenacity that existed within the most dangerous of opponents. Yet Jonathan's keen, blue eyes never left his face. The blades crashed again and Jonathan held Jinryu's steel at bay. Their eyes locked as Jonathan forced his blade back, in an attempt to bring Jinryu off of his balance. Such a thing was child's play. Jinryu's blade drew back and struck out again as he closed in on his advance with a style of swordsmanship meant, to maim, and slaughter in the most ruthless and visceral fashion. Again Jonathan's blade ascended, again the clash of blades echoed forth as the battle continued on, time and again, like crying symbols as the two steels met again and again and again. Jinryu took two steps back and lowered his blade to his side. Slowly he paced around, gauging Jonathan. For all of his own skill, Jonathan was a swordsman of immense skill. Jinryu spun his blade, lowered his stance and directed the tip to wards Jonathan.
Jonathan watched in utter calm as Jinryu analyzed him. Already Jonathan knew the next twenty five moves that Jinryu was going to perform. However he would not let that knowledge rule the fight. He would fight by instinct, as he always had. Though it may have meant his death. Jinryu just the same could not 'see' into the mind of Jonathan, but could see his stance and gather his next plan of action. However the blade had its will, and Jinryu did not predict or assume; he only fought to kill.
Jonathan paced forward and extended his blade. Jinryu batted the blade aside, and was then parried. Jinryu countered, and the blades danced against one another intimately for nearly ten minutes. Jonathan wielding his blade with a single hand directed Jinryu's very sword up and then down. Jinryu knew that this wasn't good. Jonathan's finesse was overruling his attack. The lunge was directed at Jonathan's heart, and Jonathan swept Jinryu's blade down wards, and then to the side, he brought the blade up and with a swivel of his wrist dislodged Jinryu's blade from his hands. Jinryu's blade spiraled up wards into the air. Before the blade even hit the ground Jinryu ventured onto the offensive, striking out swiftly at Jonathan with an assault of fierce magnetic force. The gale of electro static roared forward fiercely, and Jonathan was blown back wards. Two colliding forces beat against one another and struggled for supremacy as Jinryu strained to widdle down Jonathan's mental barrier. The sword plunged into the ground and Jinryu faded from view, only to appear next to the blade, lift it and then be lifted into the air by such force that his mind could do little more than marvel at the supremacy of a superior telepath's mind. Jinryu was slammed onto the ground with enough force to dislodge the bolts from an air craft carrier. The wind flew out of Jinryu's lungs as he rolled to the side, ascended only to raise his blade, in defense. Jonathan's blade touched Jinryu's for a moment. The pressure was slight. Jinryu extended to retaliate before Jonathan's blade slid into the flesh of his right shoulder. Jinryu dropped his sword, but caught it within his left hand and slashed out at Jonathan viciously. There was no cry of pain, only movement, only the battle. Jonathan withdrew his blade from Jinryu's now wounded shoulder and cleaved at the attack, and once more with a sway of his wrist drove Jinryu's blade into the ground. Jinryu ascended, striking out with a fist to wards Jonathan's chin. With all of his skill and speed, he was still stopped in mid movement. Jonathan drew Jinryu's blade up from the ground and stepped away from the man. Jinryu could not move a muscle, his every fiber had been frozen by Jonathan's mental abilities.
Jonathan drove Jinryu's blade into the ground and turned to his opponent.
"For what it's worth. You are one of the best swordsman I have ever had the pleasure of facing. Unfortunately you won't remember what happened," stated Jonathan.
Jinryu woke up... months later though he did not know it. He pushed himself up, there was no trace of the wound, no trace of a battle. There was only grass around him. Slowly he rose to his feet, there was no cloak, no weapon, nothing, but his pants and shirt. A pair of black pants, a shirt of the same color and his boots. Both of his hands ventured to his face, and then over his hair as he looked around slowly.
"Where... am I?" he inquired and then he raised his eyes to wards the heaven's. "Who am I?" he asked as if someone would tell him.
There was no one, no one to reply, no one to ask, nothing but the nature beneath his feet and a forest in the distance. Jinryu knew nothing, he didn't even know his name. Slowly he took his first steps away from the grassy field, into the forest. The world was different, it was large, it was unknown. It was frightening.
Jonathan watched from a distance. His own mind listing over what he had taken from the man. Everything, though he would leave Jinryu with the basics of how to survive.
"Lead a good life my friend," he offered solemnly. "Maybe this time around you'll do it on your own."
Jonathan ascended, and then departed.
