There it was. Alex and his opinon. Had she wanted it she’d have asked for it. No wonder she spent so much time alone. This was perhaps taken as a personal attack. As she listened to him her facial expression must have changed. It must have for her brow knit with confusion, anger and hurt. Weak? Alex had no idea.
“Beating myself up?” she queried. Swinging around to face Alex. Was everyone in her family like this? Well, now she’d find out for sure just what people thought. “Oh yeah. We’re all fuckin’ fruitcakes here. So sorry we cant all be perfect like Hope. Even more sorry we cant all be friends like you and –your- family seem to be”
There was no doubt about it all. She was livid, she was hurting and all she wanted to do was walk away. Yes…run far away from everything, let it all go…but her anger and hatred fed what she felt right here and now. In the end it was the here and now what counted. Wasn’t it? A deeper question could have been found from within the few things she had lashed back with. Though no one would pick up on them. They never did. Even the stray and random falling of the oak leaves at the wrong time of year would be missed by all but herself. Glancing to Hope’s half of the twin Oak she could only sigh…though it would have sounded more like a huff. – Something was definitely amiss…
“I said…that I wanted you to meet my son. The reminder of how I failed him wasn’t needed Alex. Thank you” she’d turn away from Alex then to look Ell over.
“Its funny really, Ell. You’re probably the only person around this shithole that actually has the strength to do your own thing. To be who you truly are” Eyes narrowed a little though not with any particular distaste…she had seen a glimpse of something within her son that made her stop. Just gave her that pause for thought.
Ells’ touch was allowed as he took that step back in to close the gap and she had to ease a little. He wanted her to show him? She could have shown him so much but all she replied with was a nod. Cass didn’t open up to anyone, not even. Perhaps there had been a time when she had spoken to Ell and perhaps he’d even recall something of it but…if it was all forgotten then it wouldn’t have mattered. The tear he took was noted as she pulled away. Regarded with angry indifference but she was putting herself between the two. Gesturing with open arms before she turned “Come meet the fruitcakes from Hell” yes…that just about summed it all up. Herself included.
However she pivoted curtly on her heel and began to walk toward the boundary of the Grove, toward the castle and the confrontation that was about to take place. Perfect! Though as she walked up ahead of Alex and Ell there was another gesture, open arms again to welcome to her again the shadow that was so often the only comfort she had. An all consuming shade that could have looked so much like a bride’s wedding train…spreading out like spilt liquid behind her. Again that wall beginning to rebuild itself within her.

Alex gauged the reactions of Ellatole and was for the most part intrigued. He wasn't the complete hard head, cocky, punk that most people thought that he was. In fact at times he could be quite intelligent, quite well spoken and even... wise. This wasn't one of those moments unfortunately, though at Ellatole's rather well spoken statement. Or rather well put statement, and reply Alex was forced to lean his head to the side. This wasn't the first time he jumped into a situation and had gotten knocked backwards. Fortunately for him, he hadn't been knocked back with a war hammer, just words. Though that didn't help, words could hurt. And apparently his had left a nasty little bite in Cassandra. His right hand ascended steadily and once more he was rubbing at the bridge of his nose. -Nice one Alex- He muttered to himself within the back of his thick skull.
"I don't have wings Ellatole," he stated rather calmly, in response to the man's request. "And I apologize for being so judgemental without knowing the facts."
He lowered his hands and once more replayed the running words of Cassandra for a moment or two. His opinion of Ellatole has been skewed, and was incorrect it seemed, and then upon closer inspection he understood only a little bit of why. Or rather he had thought he did. Perhaps the man had been traumatized in some way, affected his way of life, his ideals, and even how he seemed to interact with other individuals. He took in a deep breath and let it out slowly.
The family was torn up and then Cassandra moaning about the perfect this and perfect that. Alex's brow creased and he swept around in front of her to stop her little progress away. If it was one thing he hated it was being walked away from, dismissed, and not getting the last word in.
"Whoa there little lady! If you think for one minute that I was reminding you about how you think you failed your son, then you need your head examined!" stated Alex
His vioce was raising, though he was standing four feet away from Cassandra, a finger pointing at her, as he leaned forward.
"Perfect my ass, why not take a look at how reality really is and lighten up. People make mistakes, people screw up, people live and people die. And as for your son having the strength enough to do what he wants regardless of what people say or do" Alex paused and then leaned forward. "Take a step outside of your little misery box and look around you."
Once more he was maybe being a judgemental idiot. Or maybe he was just being a hot head. The fact remained that although he cared for Cass a great deal, he saw that there was a problem, he knew that she was hurting from something. Perhaps it was the situation with her son. Perhaps it was something else. He had no idea. In all honesty he didn't have time for it. He was really fed up with the majority of how people were. People made excuses for what they did. People blamed other people for their own actions. People beat themselves up over the most idiotic of things. He had been thrust into a role as a child. Forced to be someone he wasn't, forced to walk a path that wasn't his because of his own arrogance, because of his impatiences and because of his ambitions. However he hadn't blamed anyone but himself. He shook his head, a faint smile on his face. Cass was someone he would've loved to love. She needed it, she needed something to hang on. However he saw the walls building and for a moment he was quiet.
"One day those walls might just fall in all over you." he stated. "I won't be able to save you if that happens. Not that you asked for it of course."
Alex turned and glanced back over his shoulder. Jao was in one spot, and Jao would be talking. Alex was tired, and was leaving. He'd get back to Jao at another point in time. However he was sick of running into the same old thing, sick of the people with their own heavy loads that they couldn't seem to shake. Tired of those who blamed everyone else, tired of a life inside of a realm that lacked purpose. Perhaps that was it. He was tired of having no purpose.
"Good bye Cass," he said without turning back to face her.
The smart Kheinmor? Hardly, he was still the impatient one. This time he was leaving for a different reason, to find a better place maybe. Who knew. His frame lifted into the air and with a loud 'boom' he was gone from view, Leaving Cassandra and her son, and all of their woes behind.
He cared for her, he truly did. However it seemed simply that he couldn't help, he couldn't understand. Or maybe he did understand and perhaps he understood that Cassandra wasn't for him, wasn't right for him. The reasons were becoming apparent, and he hated to think that was the case. However that was simply it. She would walk away with her son, think ill of him, and continue to do what she would. Heaven forbid a woman actually fight for him, or give two damns.
"Fuck it," he stated just as simply.
He had his walls, and they weren't caving in.

There were so many hateful things she wanted to say and the more venom she spat, the more she realised, as Alex had pointed out a few of those things so kindly for her. She was saying them to the wrong people. Alex had, had the time for her. He cared? Enough to listen to her and now? Now things were even worse. His apology to Ell was heard and she had to think…again her brow creased with thoughts she didn’t need…or did she?
Again she was faced with Alex. He’d caught her up…he didn’t like to be walked away from? She listened to him. He probably made more sense than all the others put together. Maybe she really did need her head examining. Had she been too protective of Ell and herself? Nobody understood why. Nobody could know for it was one thing she didn’t speak of. There he was, pointing at her with that accusation…and she took it. Why?
“Who’s reality would you have me see Alex?” she asked softly “Yours or mine” both realities were very different things. “What if I asked?” what indeed would he have said if she’d asked. To be saved…from what, from who? Herself? Would it be any different to see things from another reality?
She knew that he was leaving. She also knew that she didn’t want him to go. Reaching out just as he turned away from her...she was too late. Her last plea drowned by the sound of the rather loud ‘Boom’ that left her cold. He hadn’t heard her, she’d be left to wonder now if he really would have stayed. If he could have made a difference.
“Fuck!” cursing herself in the wake of his departure, there was only a glance back to the interior of the grove, to the twin Oak, her son…then she was gone.
Running for the once safe walls of the Castle, past the gathering just beyond…Jao, Her Mother, Typhus and his little problem and Him. She even paused as she made haste…just to take one last look at them all, though for some reason her gaze rest upon Jao for a moment longer than was really necessary. What was it about that man? She’d probably never know. Her gaze only shifted as she saw Moon himself take off for the skies, but she was soon enough making her own way into the castle itself.

It was all said and done. Really there was nothing more that he could do. Forgiveness was fine and he really didn't have much of a problem with her. In fact he cared for her a great deal. However when it came to drama, Alex was definately a simpleton. The direct approach was his way to handle most things. And if it couldn't be talked down, it could most certainly be pummeled into submission.
How did that help him with Cass? It didn't, and her baggage was most certainly not his own. It was perhaps far too shallow for him, but it was exactly what he didn't need. The GreySeerer's and the Kheinmor's were never going to really see Eye to Eye on a lot of things. He knew that from the get go. After all he knew absolutely dick about them, but the fact remained that he saw enough. They were a family that didn't seem too big on family. Faith was out of her mind from what he saw. Hope was the only sane one, and Eric had snatched her up. Kaliya... Well he just didn't know about her. Cassandra, was husbandless, had a kid with issues and defended him to the bitter end.
"Her choice!" he said as he continued to speed off through the air.
He settled down on the ground and looked up at the massive mountain before him. He could fly, he could easly scale it. However he decided to work at this one. Ayenee was getting on his last nerve. He knew that being here a day longer would make him snap. So he was heading out. He knew Cass wouldn't look for him so he didn't worry. She was too busy worrying over her son. A smart kid, but definately dealing with more problems than one should. Was it Ell's fault? Probably not, however he had been in bad situations before, he had suffered, he had been through hell and back. He was just fine.
"A little bitter," he grunted out as his hand grasped another rock. "But fine nonetheless."
